About Don

Educational Consultant, Don Perras, Ph.D. offers a combination of strategies–his Ecological Model–to allow teachers, by maximizing their own personal resources, to help students realize their true academic potential and social - emotional talents. He’s assisted educators in a wide variety of schools and organizations; he can quickly analyze your district's/school’s instructional requests and classroom management needs to  develop an effective training plan tailored to address them.

The Ecological Model is designed to put theory into practice so that educators can realize tangible improvements in real-world classroom situations. Virtual webinars available in 2022.

During 2021 - 22, I am co - presenting ten (10)  monthly webinars sponsored by the State Education Resource Center (SERC)  and the State Department of Education (CSDE) to Connecticut principals/assistant principals on various topics related to 'equity' and 'cultural responsiveness.' Sessions address MTSS/UDL  instructional practices, classroom management, special education inclusion, and teacher mental health coaching. Personalized mentoring will be offered to administrators to implement training recommendations.  I designed dozens of slides illustrating both content and application for K - 12th grades.

NEW  'teacher mental health' webinar series offers an orientation to this national dilemma impacting America's school districts.

After conducting training sessions and personalized Zoom coaching meetings this school year, I've created an innovative 'teacher mental health' webinar program that identifies stressors and illustrates classroom scenarios. Self - rating scales provide a baseline for preventative interventions. Elementary and secondary versions.

Webinars are parts 1 & 2 of a 3 - segment system. Segments 2 & 3 consist of both proactive and remedial research - based strategies to maximize teachers' competence and personal adjustment. Anticipate April completions for # 3.

Any educator, school, or district should purchase this series to maximize either self or staff.  Beginning personnel must attend this series to enhance their productivity and career longevity.

National surveys indicate approximately 61% of educators experience stress daily, which contributes to the serious international teacher shortage. Coaching staff yearly,  including virtually, validates their psychological / emotional factors related to instruction / classroom management responsibilities. Beginning educators in grades 6 - 12, especially, are vulnerable to teaching pressures and behavioral conflicts that deteriorate their personal welfare and  professional competence. This contributes to potential burnout and excessive resignations, which is a major dilemma for many schools districts / agencies. Power point modules examine causative factors and preventative coping practices.  A separate webinar for 'administrators' details a school-based system to minimize stressors while nurturing proactive actions. This is the most critical topic for any educational endeavor. National 'Sibme Coach Replay' sessions  ( https://lnkd.in/d-qBXH  ) attracted positive responses  summer of 2020.  Additional presentations slated during year.  Check consulting services page.

School Fundamentals:  2022  is a new webinar that provides an overview of 'conventional' learning' instructional techniques. In lieu of the coronavirus issue, this training outlines students' readiness to learn, modality preferences, lesson modifications, and sample activities that empower educators' skills with diverse learners. Research - based interventions integrate models to create a wholistic system of teaching procedures that complement the expected variations across communities.  Essential for 'beginning'/early - career staff.

This training provides a power point format (31 slides) blending a mixture of commercial materials with former trainees' strategies to complement programming for 'at - risk'  and special education populations. Scan samples on the consulting services page.

Revised training webinars that complement Connecticut's SEED teacher evaluation template. An entire power point module on 'category # 1: 'Classroom Environment,' complies with mandated staff assessment requirements. Each section consists of specific visual representations representing '1a: learning environment,' 1b: 'behavioral standard.' and 1c: 'transitions.' Recommendations maximize teachers' potential to achieve 'proficient' and 'exemplary' scores. Remedial plans for teachers scoring 'below standard' and/or ' developing' are included in the training.  Scan samples on the in - service training page.
