Donald Perras

Educational Consultant, Donald Perras, Ph.D. has been an educator since 1967.  As an associate professor of special education at Southern Connecticut State University for 37 years, he prepared more than 6,600 teachers to become conscientious practitioners of their profession. He specializes in programs to help educators deal with students who have serious emotional disturbance (SED) and related behavior disorders.  In addition to his current consulting work, Don taught as an  adjunct professor at  University of St. Joseph in West Hartford between 2010 – 014.

Don has designed his Ecological Model of classroom management to provide teachers and administrators with a system of strategies to improve instruction and group management [more]. Based on his Ecological Model, he teaches a certification course on classroom management to educators who find themselves lacking the resources and skills to adequately deal with diverse classrooms and challenging behaviors.

Since 1990, Don has also trained over 3, 800 alternative certification secondary teachers. Additionally, he has provided on-site consultation to over 55 Connecticut school districts, training and assisting in excess of 1,350 educators on classroom management procedures. He is a specialist in preparing new teachers to manage their classrooms, especially in urban communities.
