Starting a new assignment at Prendergast Elementary School in Ansonia, Connecticut. Initially, I’m coaching four teachers on my Ecological Model system to address learning issues and student behavior. Two teachers are new, having attended my August orientation classroom management session. Basic strategies on environmental design, instructional options, and proactive behavioral practices will be emphasized. I am already offering the same service to Ansonia M.S. this year.
Colleagues… After extensive observation of hundreds of teachers in the past decade, the issue of teacher mental health became an obvious topic that needs professional attention. Educators… Presented a three – hour workshop on ‘teacher mental health’ to MAC high school on April 24th. Eighteen staff attended the session that focused on clarification of stressors associated with potential mental health issues. Multiple handouts were provided that complemented a power point module that illustrated causes and remedial strategies. Educators… Just finished second classroom management workshop for Bridgeport Diocese new teachers. Over 40 beginning teachers from multiple schools received additional behavioral techniques from my Ecological Model power point module. I’ve already consulted with many in attendance from Greenwich Cartholic and St. Ann Academy, Bridgeport, respectfully. An August workshop is planned for 2015 – 016 hires.
Newest article, ‘Providing A Classroom Management Guide for Beginning Teachers,’ was published in Southeast Education Network journal, vol. 17.1, pages 73 – 75.
