Bio & Experience
Don Perras
Dr. Donald Perras has been an educator since 1967. He is currently an Associate Professor of Special Education at Southern Connecticut State University. There he has prepared more than 6,200 teachers since 1972. He specializes in programming for students with serious emotional disturbance and behavior disorders.
Dr. Perras designed the Ecological Model for providing teachers and administrators a system of strategies to improve instruction and group management. Based on his Ecological Model, he teaches a certification course on classroom management to educators who find themselves lacking the resources and skills to adequately deal with diverse classrooms and challenging behaviors.
Since 1990, Dr. Perras has also trained over 3,200 alternative certification secondary teachers. Additionally, he has provided on-site consultation to over 52 Connecticut school districts, training and assisting hundreds of educators on classroom management procedures. He is a specialist in preparing new teachers to manage their classrooms, especially in urban communities.
Dr. Perras has also appeared on radio, spoken at national conferences, and published articles in professional journals regarding classroom management.

Don is available for on-site training and consulting. His Ecological Model text and materials are available for purchase in the store.
