Orientation to 2012 student behavior

Educators….  As 2012 begins, I prepare new strategies for assisting teachers in a variety of locations.  Classroom management issues are primary to the majority of my consultees, particularly in secondary schools. This problem is linked to a society that values ‘self – gratification,’ is resistant to personal accountability, and wants convenience and immediacy during daily activities. Ultimately, with limited parental guidance and supervision, misbehavior becomes a ‘norm’ that is challenging to both understand and manage in group settings.  This  entitlement weakens the power of conventional consequences, further impacting instruction and general school climate.  Teachers must comprehend this reality to succeed.
